Our Awards

The recognition garnered by Manika Jewellery on national platforms is a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. Year after year, we have been honored with prestigious awards from renowned organizations, such as Inacraft Awards (2016-2019, and 2022); Femina Awards (2016-2017); IGDS Awards (2019) for our unique, innovative, and creative piece of jewellery we’ve made. These awards span various categories, including design innovation, craftsmanship, and sustainability. Below you can find the reasons for our winning creations.
The “Pyrite in the Cage” necklace has won the Inacraft Awards 2016 for the stone category, Femina Awards 2016, and the IGDS Awards in 2019 for its unique design. The necklace is made from pyrite, a type of mineral that is often referred to as “fool’s gold.” The design, pyrite is set in a cage made of brass, was inspired by the hidden beauty of pyrite, an ordinary grey-colored stone, we can’t see the real beauty of the stone from the outside unless looking deeply into it, shining as a real gold. The necklace was crafted meticulously by a highly skilled artisan who has been collaborating with Manika Jewellery for more than two decades. Through this creation, Manika succeeded in educating and informing society that Indonesia has various kinds of natural ordinary stones that can be transformed into beautiful pieces of jewellery, yet at an affordable price.
In 2017, one of Manika Jewellery’s collections, the ”Essential Oil necklace,” won the Inacraft Awards and Femina Awards for the metal category for its innovative and creative design. The main idea of the design is how to create an innovative piece of jewellery that is handcrafted traditionally. So, we tried to combine the brass with aromatherapy essential oil, which gives a soothing and relaxing effect for the user. The essential oil contains the natural essence of frangipani, jasmine, lavender and lemongrass. The brass necklace was made with a plaiting technique, enabling the user to drop the essential oil into the pendant, containing a small rough ceramic that functions to absorb the oil and spread the smell of the aromatherapy. The necklace is loved by many jewellery collectors not only because of its unique traditional metal craftsmanship but also because it functions as aromatherapy.
Manika Jewellery has managed to win another Inacraft Award for the stone category in 2018 for its unique product, the ”Balancing Necklace,” which is made of crystal clear quartz. We intentionally keep the natural shape of the stone, not polished, to show the natural beauty of it. The crystal clear quartz is known for its healing properties to absorb the negative energy and detoxify the body. Realizing its healing properties, we combined the stone with brass and finished it with a black cord cotton, transforming it into a simple, yet beautiful piece of necklace, giving a positive energy to anyone who wears it.
The reason why Manika Jewellery won the Inacraft Awards for the stone category in 2019 is because of the eco-friendly materials we use for the earrings. The charcoal stud earrings were made of the waste of charcoal stone in Sawah Lunto, West Sumatra, an area known for its charcoal mining that has been deactivated for a long time. The local people use the charcoal waste to make various kinds of crafts for their living. Manika sees these as an opportunity to help the local people’s economy by collaborating with them to make beautiful jewellery from charcoal waste that has a high value, yet with an affordable price, as well as our commitment to sustainability that breathes new life into discarded materials while minimizing environmental impact. Through this creation, we want to educate the jewellery collectors that beauty doesn’t have to be made out of expensive and perfect materials, but it can also form an imperfect and affordable one. This has shown that each piece of Manika Jewellery’s collections carries not only the charm of Bali’s cultural heritage but also the essence of responsible consumerism.
In 2022, Manika Jewellery won another Inacraft Award for the stone category, “Black Rock in Wire.” The creations were made of satam stone, a rare type of rock that is only found in Belitung Island, Indonesia. The stone was tested by the MIPA faculty of Padjajaran University and the Chemistry Mineral and Environment Laboratory and was believed to have originated from a meteorite that fell to Earth and landed on Belitung island seven hundred thousand years ago, which was known as satam stone. The stone is black and has a smooth, glassy texture with unique lines. The satam stone on Belitung Island itself is used as a typical Belitung island souvenir, for example, jewelry for women, such as rings, earrings or pendants, but in a very simple and unattractive form. Seeing this fact, we were challenged to be creative by using satam stone and combining it with Brass, which then won the Inacraft Awards. By winning this Award, we hope we’ll be able to popularize satam stone as a beautiful and affordable jewellery for the public, as well as provide a more positive and productive impact for the Bangka Belitung Community in managing the satam stone, which has historical value for them. We hope, through our exceptional designs, unwavering dedication to quality, and a strong commitment to sustainability, we have not only earned numerous awards but can also earn a special place in the hearts of jewellery enthusiasts worldwide in many years to come.
